Prayer Ministry Missions United Methodist Women United Methodist Men

Prayer

Prayer is a major part of our worship and fellowship. Please see below the many Prayer Ministries here at FUMC Monroe.

A private "Prayer Room" that can be utilized at any time is located on the side of the Adult Center. An electronic keypad is provided for entry to the room. Please call the front office at 770-267-6525 for the entry code.

FUMC Monroe hosts a "Prayer Ministry Team" meeting every 2nd Tuesday at 6:30pm. This team sponsors a Monday Morning Mumble weekly at 8:30am, currently meeting in the Fellowship Hall.

Monroe First UMC has a prayer chain that may be called upon for urgent and emergency needs. For special needs, a prayer vigil can be planned. To activate the prayer chain or to place a name or concern on our prayer list please call Jo Thompson at 770-267-2460 (days) or Phyllis Spears at 770-267-4204 (nights).

We also have a daily e-mail prayer chain. You can submit Prayer Requests or join the list by contacting Ann Harris in the front office via phone at 770-267-6525 or email. You can also submit a prayer request via an online form.

We have a Men's Prayer Group that meets in the church parlor every Wednesday morning at 6:00am and prayer groups that meet in the prayer chapel on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:00am. We invite you to join us for prayer.

We also have a Community Prayer Box in front of the Adult Center on Broad St. You are asked to place prayer requests in the box, raise the mailbox flag, and know that we will pray for your request.

Occasionally lessons on prayer are included in our Wednesday night classes.

We also offer prayer groups in homes and request that you call the church office (770-267-6525) if you wish to participate in one of these groups.

Missions

The congregation of Monroe First United Methodist Church is actively involved in various missions programs throughout the year. We invite you to become active disciples for Christ through involvement in missions.

Local Outreach Missions

The Alcove
The Alcove, located in Monroe, offers temporary housing and assistance to youth in need. Every Tuesday evening at 6:00pm, members of our congregation take the staff and youth to dinner at Charlie’s Restaurant to spend time with them and build relationships. Our church also supports this valuable organization through donations of household items and volunteer service.

Faith in Serving Humanity (FISH)
This is a local agency founded and supported by the churches of this area. They reach out to families in need of housing, clothing, food, and basic necessities of life. We support FISH through our donations of food items, volunteer service, and monetary gifts.

Great Day of Service
Twice a year, members of our congregation assist persons within our congregation and in the community with cleaning, landscaping, and other chores.

Habitat for Humanity
We support the Walton County Habitat for Humanity organization through our prayers, monetary contributions, and volunteer service.

Angel Food
Our church is an official Angel Food sales and distribution site. Church members and persons throughout the community purchase food boxes for themselves and for others in need each month. Proceeds from the sale of food boxes are used to fund mission efforts.

United Methodist Women

The organized unit of UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. We have four UMW circles.
We are women in mission and we invite all women to visit our circles and become a member of one of our groups. Please join us as together we serve Christ in Monroe and throughout the world.

Please check the latest editions of the newsletter and calendar for UMW events and information.

United Methodist Men

A formal organization that is open to all men in the church whose purpose is community outreach, the support of our church's missionaries, and the overall goal of uniting men together in Christ.

Please check the latest editions of the newsletter and calendar for UMW events and information.
